CERES GEN6 has been recognised in the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards, Australia’s longest-running international design awards, for excellence in design, innovation and impact.
This year’s Awards are presented under the theme Design that Leads - celebrating the critical role of design in navigating complexity, driving innovation and creating positive change.
At a time of unprecedented social, environmental and technological change, this year’s theme recognises that good design is more than an outcome, it is a powerful way of thinking, imagining and acting. It challenges us to question what is, envision what could be and design better products, services, places and systems for people and planet.
Among this year’s Award Winners is CERES GEN6, which received a prestigious 2026 Australian Good Design Award Winner in the Product Design Commercial and Industrial category.

JURY COMMENTS:
“The Jury recognises CERES GEN6 as a highly robust livestock monitoring solution that demonstrates genuine engineering ambition through its zero-touch auto-activation system and direct-to-satellite communication. The over-moulded multi-layered design proves highly suitable for harsh environments, while the incorporation of solar panels provides continuous power with minimal infrastructure requirements. The Jury was particularly impressed by the satellite connectivity combined with edge computing for reproductive metrics, which eliminates prohibitive setup costs typical of agricultural products. The holistic design approach, including meaningful collaboration with Indigenous land managers through partnerships with NAILSMA, adds significant societal depth. The Jury commends the team for delivering functional innovation that provides total control of the livestock lifecycle while improving animal welfare and management efficiency.”
CERES TAG COMMENTS:
“Continuous improvement is one of our core values, and we know the best way to improve is to listen to the people using our technology. Producer feedback has been a valuable part of the CERES GEN6 development process, helping us understand what works, what could work better and what really matters in the paddock. We also want to acknowledge the incredible team at Clandestine Design Group, who worked closely with us throughout the CERES GEN6 design process. Their expertise, creativity and ability to translate our vision and producer feedback into a functional, robust product were invaluable. We’re incredibly proud to see the result of that collaboration recognised by the Australian Good Design Awards. For us, good design isn’t just about how a product looks, it’s about creating technology that solves real problems and continues to get better for the people using it."
The 2026 Australian Good Design Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday 9 October at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney, bringing together more than 1,000 guests from across design, architecture, engineering, business, government and the wider creative industries.
The Ceremony will celebrate the very best in contemporary design and reveal the recipients of the Good Design Award Best in Discipline, Special Accolades, the Good Design Award for Sustainability, and the Australian Good Design Award of the Year – the nation’s highest design honour.
Good Design Australia Managing Director Rachel Wye said the range of projects recognised in 2026 reflected the role design now plays across the economy and community.
“Design is an important economic and social capability. It influences the products we create, the services we rely on, the policies we develop and the way organisations respond to complex problems,” Ms Wye said.
“This year’s Award winners are addressing energy costs, healthcare, environmental degradation, artificial intelligence, disaster preparedness, accessibility and community wellbeing.
“Australia has an extraordinary design community and an opportunity to use that capability to strengthen our economy, improve lives and build industries that can compete internationally.”
